BEAR IN MIND
If you are a UK national and you are looking to create or develop your company in France, you will probably have to deal with a specific set of factors. For example:
- France and the UK will both want to tax you
Two countries are involved with regard to your company: France, where your private limited company will be incorporated; and the UK, where you personally reside. These two nations will want to tax your business. We will not help you break (or even bend) the rules and if we think that you will be liable to pay tax in France, we will tell you. However, we will ensure that your company is properly declared so that it is considered by both the UK and France as a company based in France for tax purposes. We will also ensure that you understand the procedures and rules correctly. This way, you can prove that your company is taxed in France without running into any hassles in the UK.
- Your business is international
Your company will probably be pretty heavily involved in international trade, particularly in light of its size. Contrary to most French start-ups, which tend to be highly concentrated in France, your company is liable to have close links with the UK and, potentially, at an international level. This can complicate things. We have the experience you need and understand the questions that UK entrepreneurs have with regard to France.
- English is your mother tongue
If you are setting up business in France, you probably have a good command of French. However, given the number and the technical nature of the questions you will have, you will probably want to discuss them in English with your advisers.
- You may not be familiar with the rules applicable in France
You are probably very familiar with the English rules on accounting and taxation, but you may not be quite as familiar with the French rules. We understand this, and we will take the time to explain these rules to you. Since we specialise in helping English people, we have a wide range of documentation (written in English) that you may find useful.
